Since 1989, I have been rediscovering the beauty of stained glass art on a daily basis. After years of realizing this addiction to glass art was not going away, I left my 20 year career in the airline business, embraced my love of glass and followed my dream of opening a glass studio in 2006 with my mom. As a self-taught artist & owner of Dragonfly Art Studio, the days are never long enough to accomplish what I want to do; the possibilities are endless. My only regret is not doing it sooner.
While I will always appreciate traditional stained glass methods, I do enjoy branching out into my own personal style and often incorporate mixed-media techniques. My favorites are functional pieces, glass mosaics, kiln-worked glass & lamp worked beads.
Glass art secures my place in this crazy world. If it’s creating a one of a kind window or repeating a signature item by the dozen, my goal is to transfer a feeling of peace to someone else. By choosing to make a living at my artwork, I am allowed to remove the everyday chaos and do what makes my soul the happiest.
My mother has always been my biggest inspiration. As a child, she ensured art was part of my everyday life. To stir our imagination, she would give us a subject to create from. We wrote stories, drew & painted pictures, created sculptures, etc. all from one simple subject at a time. We also always had a ’puzzle table’, which I believe ties in with my love of stained glass. After all, a stained glass window is really just one big puzzle held together with lead and solder.
My surroundings allow me to gain new glass concepts; sometimes it’s nature, people or animals or it could be a mood, a movement or an intuition. One of my favorite creations was born from an incorrect diagnosis of cancer from a doctor regarding my mother. These little glass objects, we call our ‘Kindred Spirits’ were created from gratitude and jubilation after hearing of the mis-diagnosis. They depict a little person praising the Lord. They serve as reminders of the ones we love and have enabled us to smile even through the most difficult times.
At the end of the day, I have usually fed my craving of balancing my interests and expectations of myself. I am very grateful for the use of my hands and my mind. The entire process of creating art is a spiritual journey for me. Having the variety of color, texture & light from glass gives me the ability to fulfill my vision which makes stained glass an extremely satisfying medium to work with.

My glass art fulfill a great effect on my mind, body and soul. I have been blessed with the ability to plan creatively, to imagine what my mind’s eye visualizes. It’s exciting to realize there is no limit, whatsoever, concerning what I want to create.
Glass is an impressive medium with which to work. The varieties of glass increase my imagination into new, uncharted concepts. Components of brass, wood and paint, just to name a few, blend flawlessly with glass creations. Once again, limitless possibilities!
My fascination with glass has provided me with a degree of removal from the normal world and deliver me into my carefree, personal space, wherein releasing my mind to become unobstructed, creative and playful. Sharing my love for glass art is my daughter and business partner, thus encompassing true perfection and passion.
